North Shore Community Church

For the Glory of God on Long Island

Worship Sundays at 9:30am and 11am

A Congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America

Church is Good for You.

People have lots of ideas about what it means to walk into a church, but most believe it has something to do with being a good person. We believe a person goes to Church not because they’re good but because Jesus is good. And his plans for us are good.

The typical Long Islander is over-extended, where we succeed by constantly stretching to meet obligations and goals. But the Church is about how God makes us into the recipients of his grace and goodness.

Communicate | Celebrate | Cultivate

NSCC is committed to church life that not only believes in Jesus Christ but reflects His goodness.

We communicate the glory of God through a formative, lively, God-honoring worship service every Sunday.

We celebrate the glory of God through a culture of feasting, gathering regularly in large and small groups and celebrating communion every Sunday.

We cultivate the glory of God through communities of spiritual formation and works of mercy.

What we believe

We believe the Gospel is the most important thing, and we are determined to know that first and most. We are not a political organization or a movement first. We are not even Long Islanders first. We are a Christian church first and most.

We believe the Bible is true and is the great story of God's determination to fix a broken world through Jesus (Col 1.19-20).

We believe Jesus came to earth in the flesh, died on the Cross, was buried and rose again. He ascended to Heaven and cares for us through the work of the Holy Spirit. And we believe he will come again to put right all that is wrong.

We believe Jesus welcomes sinners and pushes away those who think they have no sin. If you are in need of God's grace you are in the right place.

We believe God desires a diverse congregation, as close to the Bible's picture of "every tribe and tongue" as possible. If you don't see anyone like you here we sure hope you'll stick around.

We believe that God gave us the communion meal as a way to remember the Gospel and be spiritually nourished. So we celebrate communion every week.

We offer the ability to ask anonymous questions after the sermon because hard questions should never remain hidden.

We make use of both ancient and modern resources, liturgies, songs, hymns, instruments, creeds, prayers, and anything else we can find that glorifies God and ministers the gospel in our worship. We believe that good music and good words stir the soul, so our worship aims to use the best of both.

We believe the feast is one of the greatest ways God gives us to participate in the hope of Christianity together, so we have lots of BBQs and gatherings in our church.

We are a church for the island, not just on the island.

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA).
